Pan Am Path

The PanAm Path will join segments of Toronto together and feature numerous arts and cultural events leading up the the PanAm Games. Lakeshore Arts is proud to be named Project Leader for Zone 5 (running along the path from the Palais Royal to Berry Road) and happily hosted over twenty FREE arts based workshops leading up to our one day Walking Wave Parade celebration on the path.

Our Project

akeshore Arts and artist facilitator Melissa McGrath have worked with local schools, community centers and libraries to run a variety of workshops exploring themes of home, identity and stories of community. Colour theory, drawing techniques, printmaking and collage were covered during the community workshops, culminating in the creation of hundreds of unique flags and banners!

The community workshops have now ended, but there is still a chance to participate! We invite you to join us at Sir Casmir Gzowski Park (south of Lake Shore Blvd. West, between Ellis Ave and Windermere Ave) on Sunday, June 14th and make your own flag before our Walking Wave Parade begins at 2:00pm!

The one of a kind flags will represent themes that are unique to our community, with a Pan Am colour palette representative of both Caribbean and Central American countries. The movement created during the celebration by parade participants will undulate in colour, scale and density along the trail leading to the bridge, mimicking with waters edge and winding pathway.  Creative community partners will help activate the path at various points adding to the festival like environment!
