Shazaam! In Focus

Shazaam! In Focus is a six-day (12 hour) arts-based program offered by Lakeshore Arts and facilitated by professional artists in the classroom. We are proud to acknowledge that this program is currently funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Shazaam! In Focus provides grade 8 students with a meaningful opportunity to examine their identity and the importance of self-reflection through the creation of the following program components:

★  Metaphorical Image & Reflection  ★

Students will capture and edit a photograph using Photoshop. They will give

their image a title and write about the metaphor represented in their image.

★  ‘Reflections of Me’ Spoken Word Poem  ★

Following a series of creative writing exercises, students will write and revise

an individual spoken word piece about their own journey or passions.

★  Self-Portrait Collage & Presentation  ★

Students will create and share a mixed-media piece containing personal artifacts.

★  Poetry Slam Performance  ★

Students will present their ‘Reflections of Me’ spoken word poems in front

of their peers in a Poetry Slam hosted by our spoken word artist!
