Through the EYES of the Artist is Lakeshore Arts’ inaugural program! The exhibition was originally launched in March 1994, and has been celebrating Toronto artists ever since. Held annually at the Assembly Hall, the juried exhibition features approximately 40 different artists each year – with an array of prizes to be distributed.

In 2014, Lakeshore Arts was very pleased to announce that Alterna Savings joined the EYES initiative as a key sponsor – providing Lakeshore Arts with prize money to award to the top three place pieces and an opportunity to exhibit in the Smith Zone Gallery at Lakeshore Arts. The jurors are also asked to identify two pieces to be awarded honourable mentions.

The Giorgio M. Della Rocca Integrity in Art Award was established by long-term Lakeshore Arts supporter Rob Della Rocca, owner of Lakeshore Valu-Mart, in honour of his father’s love of art. The awards are distributed to outstanding pieces in visual art and sculpture, respectively.
