Cassandra Myers and Emily Dial

Cassandra (they/she) and Emily (they/she) are both poets and forever partners. They were both named Best Poet at the College Unions Poetry Slam 2018, 2018(respectively) and have a fierce craft and performance style that unites them over their love of poetry.

Cassandra is a queer, trans, crip, mad, South Asian-Italian poet, performer, educator, and social worker from Toronto, Ontario. She has a Masters of Social Work Candidate from York University and is also a crisis intervention counsellor and youth worker, specializing in care for sexual violence survivors and the BIPOC LGBTQ2SIA+ community.

Cassandra has performed poetry across the United States and Canada, and their debut collection, Smash the Headlights, is forthcoming from Write Bloody North Publishing in 2021. A Pink Door Fellow, her work can be found in Overheard, The Shortline Review, UncommonYOU, and elsewhere.

Em is a queer, triracial, chronically ill poet, educator, and earth-worker born and raised in the Bay Area of California. Em holds a B.S. in biology and M.A in Earth Systems from Standford University and is an earth worker at Black Creek Community Farms.

Em is a 2020 Kundiman Fellow, recipient of the 2019 Mary C Mohr Poetry Award and won PEN Canada’s New Voices Award for 2020!
