Our Community Hubs drop-in programs are returning this winter and spring, with FREE art activities suitable for the whole family! Join us at LSA for a weekly Song Circle, Printmaking program, Halloween and Diwali craft afternoons, and Upcycling! No registration required, no experience necessary, all materials provided. Location: 2422 Lake Shore Blvd. W, Etobicoke
Lakeshore Arts’ Community Project space is located on the first floor of a building with 2 stairs at the entrance, and a non-automatic door. There is a ramp available upon request, please email Francis@LakeshoreArts.ca in advance if you require ramp access. Our bathrooms are located at basement level, only accessible by a flight of stairs.
Song Circle
Dates: Tuesdays, from October 6 – December 8, 2026 and again from February 2 – May 18
Experience the magic of singing with others! Join members of Toronto Community Singing for a family-friendly weekly song circle at Lakeshore Arts. All voices are welcome, to sing in community, no previous experience required. The songs are heart centred, fun and taught in the oral tradition of call and response. Come sing with us, you’ll love it!

Printmaking
Time: 1 – 3:30 PM
Dates: Saturdays from September 19 – October 24, 2026
Explore a variety of printmaking projects and styles with artists Jennie Davis and Amara King. Projects are suitable for all ages and abilities. Participants will be able to drop-in anytime during the workshop to participate. Activities will include relief printing techniques such as lino, as well as screen printing.
All materials for printmaking projects will be supplied!

Halloween Costume Clinic
Time: 1 – 3:30 PM
Dates: Saturday, October 31, 2026
Join Lakeshore Arts staff for a special Halloween event perfect for all ages! Our Costume Clinic will include everything you need to make the final touches on your costume, including sewing supplies (plus a sewist to help you with your touch-ups), fabric paint, face paint and a cardboard craft station for props and accessories. If your costume is already perfect, we’ll have a Hallowe’en craft to work on, and, of course, lots of candy, so you can trick or treat early at Lakeshore Arts!

Diwali Community Hub
Time: 1 – 3:30 PM
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
During our Diwali Community Hub facilitated by Dayna Persaud and Renu Indapurkar, participants will decorate diyas, traditional oil lamps made of clay, and make akash kandil, decorative paper lanterns. Come celebrate and learn more about the Hindu festival of lights!

Upcycling
Time: 1 – 3:30 PM
Dates: Saturdays, November 14 – December 5, 2026
Upcycling is the process of turning used, discarded products into new treasures! Using household materials such as plastics, textiles, and metals, participants will be invited to create artworks by amending and improve existing objects. Visitors will also be invited to bring something from home that they would like to upcycle. Upcycling Community Hubs will be facilitated by Ilona Valcov, joined by guest facilitators.

Meet The Facilitators
Song Circle: Merita Elmazovski
Merita is a community song leader, facilitator, and one of the founding members of the Toronto Community Singing (TCS) Collective. She participated in the ‘Grow Your Wings’ training series for aspiring song leaders, led by community song leaders & mentors Steph Drouin and Paul Barton from Fiercely OK. This training helped spark what eventually became TCS. She has also completed song leadership training with certified Full Voice Coach Mila Redwood, who is the Founder of Sing for Joy in Toronto.
As a core circle holder and song leader, she helps guide regularly scheduled community song circles across the city, creating spaces rooted in connection, safety, and belonging.
Song Circle: Roberta Harris
Roberta, nickname Robin, started singing at a young age and has always found much joy and upliftment from it. She’s been in Gospel, Jazz, and Classical Choirs. Roberta has written songs since her youth, which marry well with the call and response tradition of singing, a tradition she is in love with.
When she isn’t singing, Roberta is an Outdoor Education Instructor and Life Coach for youth. As a Life Coach Roberta created and facilitates a programme Called “Discovering Your Strengths and Learning Strengths From Nature Workshop.”
Song Circle: Rufus Glassco
Rufus Glassco is a trilingual facilitator who works with sound and nature to help people of all ages to connect, learn and heal. His company, Sound Benefits, specializes in experiential learning and healing through Drum Circles, with a focus on health and wellness, as well as Sound Healing, Community Singing, Forest Bathing and Shamanic Coaching. He helps both individuals and groups to relax, and come into greater resonance and harmony.
He is also an Advanced HealthRHYTHMS facilitator and a HealthRHYTHMS Adolescent Protocol facilitator, and has studied the art of drum circle facilitation, and how to heal with drums, with some of the best known pioneers in the industry. He is also fluent in English, French and Spanish.
Printmaking: Jennie Davis
Jennie Davis is an artist focused in printmaking, book arts, and songwriting. Based in Toronto/Tkaronto, Canada, she recently finished her undergrad in Printmaking and Publications at OCAD University. Jennie is passionate about community focused art, and genuine human connections through creative pathways.
Her work includes letterpress printing, screen printing, intaglio, book binding, and other mixed media practices. Her largest body of work, Impressions, combines multiple different printmaking methods to create a 12-ft accordion style book.
Jennie has developed her practice around her feminine identity, religious motifs, and all things crafty. She finds inspiration from the people and landscapes around her, and works to abstract images into feelings. She also makes work in an illustrative style that speaks to a way of storytelling through image and text using a variety of printmaking methods. See her recent blog post in Unedited for a sneak peak of her upcoming short story graphic novel, “Chester”, to be released in fall 2026.
She is also an aspiring musician and plays bass guitar in Seasons Change (formerly “Sammy and the Band”), and has her own musical projects in the works for 2027.
Printmaking: Amara King
Amara King is a recent OCAD University graduate with a BFA in Photography and minor in Printmaking, and 2025 recipient of the Gallery 44 Emerging Artist Award. At the intersection of experimentation and conceptual practices, Amara engages with hands-on analog processes to investigate the nuances of being (a)part of the Caribbean diaspora, navigating through themes of belonging, identity, history, culture, and storytelling.
