Business of Art

We’re excited to present the next instalment of our professional development series The Business of Art: Photo Documentation 101!

Whether you are selling your work, archiving past work, or marketing work online, having a digital archive of good quality photographs will take help take your work to the next level. For this special two-part workshop, facilitated by practicing artist Ebti Nabag, participants will get hands-on experience staging a standard photo set-up for artwork documentation, and photo editing. The subject matter? Your artwork!

Participants are encouraged to select 2-3 small works (no bigger than 22×30″) to the first week of the program, where they will take photos of their work by setting up a makeshift photo booth in our gallery space, complete with backdrops, lighting and DSLR camera. Taking the ‘raw’ footage from week 1, the second workshop will focus on photo-editing software, to create professional looking shots that you can take home! Facilitated by practicing visual and conceptual artists, the series will draw on the current experience of creative professionals, as well as actively encourage peer input and collaborative problem solving.

Registration is required and spaces are limited. Workshop registration fee (includes both workshops): $20 for members & $25 for non-members.
