Seniors Art Circuit

Lakeshore Arts and the Toronto Public Library are partnering on a new workshops series to engage seniors (ages 55+) in creative play in our local libraries. This program will be developed based on feedback from local seniors and delivered in three local libraries: Albion Library, Richview Library and Eatonville Library. Professional arts facilitators will create programs based on themes identified through a series of community consultations. The facilitator will be paired with a local senior artist and/or one of the SAGES, a member of our senior advisory group, to assist with the program schedule and delivery.

Seniors Art Circuit culminating projects will be showcased at the Seniors Art Circuit Creative Fair in each of the three neighbourhoods. The fair will include information and access to local arts groups and organizations, to enlighten local seniors on where else in the community they can find free or highly subsidized creative workshops to further develop their newly learned skills and access outlets for creative expression.

Seniors Art Circuit Workshop Series

Each of the 3 libraries will host a weekly workshop for 17 weeks. Every 6 weeks there will be a focus on a different discipline (i.e. photography, creative writing etc) based on consultation sessions. The workshops will rotate from one library to the other so that each workshop is delivered three times a week to create the “Art Circuit”.

The workshops will run from the second week of August until the second week of December. Running every week see branch dates and times below. *

Seniors Art Circuit Consultations

We will be hosting a select number of consultation sessions to ask local seniors a variety of questions to learn more about what art forms would you like to explore, are there any skills you’re interested in learning and what types of barriers do you face in attending community programs in Toronto.
