Porch View Dances: Mimico

Porch View Dances: Real People Dancing In Real Spaces (PVD) is giving Etobicoke – Lakeshore communities more of an opportunity to connect and engage with their neighbours through the beautiful art form of dance.

In the manner of a guided neighbourhood tour, PVD audience members will travel from house to house to see families and friends performing on the porches and front yards of their own homes. These dances celebrate the lives, stories and cultural diversities of community residents, as well as the history of the neighbourhood. The tour ends with a Flock Landing, a participatory group dance that invites audience members to join in the dance.

Lakeshore Arts has partnered with the original creators of Porch View Dances, Karen and Allen Kaeja of Kaeja d’Dance, that has been successful in the Seaton Village community for over seven years.

In June 2019 we will host Porch View Dances: Real People Dancing In Real Spaces for the third year in South Etobicoke. Starting in Long Branch for our pilot year, we moved on to New Toronto last year, and this year PVD will dance its way through Mimico community. Learn more about the production of this amazing festival with your backstage pass!
