Twenty-five years ago, Charlotte founded Wuthering Bites, a café on the Lakeshore in Mimico that focused on the arts and community. With a diverse background in teaching, research and advocacy, and a passion for writing and visual art, Charlotte is thrilled to now be working with Lakeshore Arts as they launch exciting new initiatives for our South Etobicoke neighbourhood. She is especially thrilled to have a unique opportunity to focus on engagement and programming for seniors.

Natural Dyeing

July 28, 2021 @ 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Free
Led by: Camila Salcedo & denirée isabel
Discover the magic of the natural world around you! This workshop will teach participants a few different natural dye techniques from dyeing to flower pounding with local plant materials. We will talk about the importance of buying locally, appreciating the lands we are on, and being conscious of our impact on the systems of global trades.
Material kits will be delivered to participants with all the necessary materials for this workshop, including natural dyes, flowers and fabric.

Natural Dyeing is part of the Importation quad. This quad invites audiences to learn about the life cycles of different imported and exported objects in relation to the environment and human labour, through reflecting on their personal impact on consumption.
While workshops are free and open to anyone in Toronto, space is limited and priority will be given to Etobicoke residents, newcomers, immigrants and refugees and people who experience barriers to accessing arts opportunities. All other applicants will be admitted on a first-come basis. Applicants will be notified about admission and receive a Zoom link by 5 days in advance of scheduled workshop dates. Information collected in applications is private and confidential.
