About the Artists

Jedidiah Mugarura is a storyteller descended from the people of Nkore. Their storytelling seeks to find and reimagine the missing vowels to the songs we once sang before colonial violence, to project a future of agency and possibility for those still negotiating their bodies in empire. Their play, “Tomorrow Never Came,” will be staged in New York in June 2025. Jedidiah is also the facilitator of LSA’s annual BIPOC Creative Writing Program, Write By The Water.
Micah Nelson is the owner of Balance First Workshops, an arts and wellness business. She is a Mindful Art Facilitator, Elementary Teacher and Holistic Health Practitioner. Having both international and local teaching experience, Micah is committed to supporting individuals through holistic health classes and mindful art workshops which combine meditation, sound healing and painting. She believes that empowerment through the arts is a powerful catalyst for transformative healing and self discovery at any age. Micah has facilitated workshops for many organisations such as the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, Sheridan College, McGill University and other corporate and educational institutions. With a firm rooting in the nonprofit world, Micah is a former board member for Trails Youth Initiatives, one of Canada’s top and most impactful children’s charities.
