Art funding loopholes for non-permanent residents in Canada

July 21, 2021 @ 7:00 PM 8:30 PM

FREE

Led by: Ana Luisa Bernárdez & Sebastián Rodríguez y Vasti

Securing funding for projects as a non-permanent resident can be tricky due to the eligibility criteria of most granting bodies. In this workshop we will discuss options and loopholes to find ways around these obstacles. There will be a presentation followed by a discussion, and participants are welcome to bring project ideas to brainstorm funding options together.

No materials are needed for this workshop, but participants will need a computer and access to the internet.

Art funding loopholes for non-permanent residents in Canada

Art funding loopholes for non-permanent residents in Canada is part of the Identification quad. This quad is focused around the imposed systems of Identity Documents as tools for surveillance and control. The quad reimagines other ways to identify our inner beings that are not focused on constructs such as our nationality, race or gender.

While workshops are free and open to anyone in Toronto, space is limited and priority will be given to Etobicoke residents, newcomers, immigrants and refugees and people who experience barriers to accessing arts opportunities. All other applicants will be admitted on a first-come basis. Applicants will be notified about admission and receive a Zoom link by 5 days in advance of scheduled workshop dates. Information collected in applications is private and confidential.
