About the Choir

Mimico Children’s Choir was founded in 2007 by Margaret Nealon and since has been providing accessible, high-quality musical education to children in South Etobicoke. The Choir delights audiences young and old through community-based performances at local events and seniors’ facilities. The two main concerts are the highlight during each session; The Christmas in Mimico carol concert and Annual Spring Concert. Mimico Children’s Choir has partnered with a number of other prestigious musical groups in the Toronto area, including the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra and the Weston Silver Band.

The choir engages children ages 6 to 13 years old and rehearses once a week for an hour after school September through May at Mimico Baptist Church.

In 2015 the Choir was honoured to receive their first grant from the Ontario Arts Council and won a 2015 Gem of the Lakeshore Award for “Best Culture and Recreation” in Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

The Choir is committed to community-building, giving children of all backgrounds and income levels access to high quality, affordable choral education and a sense of teamwork through rehearsals and performances together.
